Mediacorp Channel 8 Records Challenge

Ok! Final preparation before the BIG day!
Things came up pretty fast today..
Of course! Everyone worked from 9am-9pm..
Some even stayed till almost 1am!

Well.. Tried my best to help..
Gotta rush to up and down from YTSS to Suntec City to do balloons for POSB!
Everything went smoothly except..

Lady: "Hi! My daughter likes Barney the Dinosaur.. Can you make her one?"
Me: "Sorry~ I can't make Barney for you now.."
Lady: "It's OK.. =) What about Kungfu Panda?"

OH MY GOSH! =S

Anyway.. Back to YTSS!

Managed to make Mr. Dick today!

And first time using 160s balloons..
Managed to weave out a..

..bucket of water! (For the giraffe..)

3rd filming session of the Records Challenge.. =)
Great day, great balloons, great people!
I finally see the chance for Yishun Town to win! =D
Good news is..

Ice Skating @ Fuji Ice Palace!

Sudden phone call from Kahhong requesting me to join him & his friends for ice skating..
Since I was available in the late afternoon.. Why not?
Haha!
Have not skated for AGES! Probably 2-3 years back?
Oh yes.. Mr. Paul can ice skate OK!
No falling or ice breaking alright! =X
Took me a while to get use to the ice and after a while, I was GLIDING! =X Lol!

Mediacorp Channel 8 Records Challenge

Another practice session today..
I have this feeling that most people treat this competition more like a game? Or time to play with free balloons?
I see people playing.. Yes playing and wasting balloons by attempting to sculpt dogs & flowers?!..
Yes, Ms Xie might be unreasonable at times..
But when she's lecturing about the playing & wastage of balloons and the high costs..
She was right..
You guys can have fun.. But not to the extend where hardly any work is done..
I feel pretty worried for YTSS today when everyone can spend 5 hours in the library and there isn't much progress..
Well, Friday's going to be the last day for practising and planning...
I wonder how things would turn out by then.. Just hope things could be completed smoothly.. =)

Metal structures were 75% done..
One poor guy cut his fingers while bending the wires.. Poor thing..
&.. I still do not really agree to the structures..

For those who take the train to work or school everyday, I believe there's many interesting scenes you have encountered before..
Well, some of the most interesting cases I've seen are..
-Lady fainted right beside me..!
-People hiding below the seats..!
-People spitting on the chair and spreading the spit around..!
-Ladies school girls having their period and it stains the chair and their skirts..!

Mediacorp Channel 8 Records Challenge

Today's the 2nd filming session..
Did not go for it due to some personal stuff..
Of course I did appear in school in the morning to meet up the students and teachers..
Worked with Irina & YingQuan on a human leg..
Glad we did.. Cos' now we know what proportions we need for the whole human.. =D
Helped out a little with the other groups' plannings..
And more importantly to see what ideas the teachers have come up with too..

Oh yes! there's a bunch of new students that joined in unexpectedly..
Good news & bad news..
Good news is of course we have much more manpower to build the balloon structures..
Bad news is almost 99.99% of them have no idea what our plans are and what is going on.. Lol!
Tried my best to give them a crash course on the balloons..
I think it worked? Most of them have an idea what's going, on, roughly how to build it, and they're not as afraid of balloons anymore! =D

Pretty fun session for the new students especially the balloon bursting part! =P
Students are scary these days.. They're imagining the balloons and their teachers' faces!?!
OMG.

First time I see someone having such a terrible time bursting a balloon!
Poor thing..LOL

Finally saw the metal structures being built for the competition..
After seeing it and hearing how the balloons will be attached onto it, I feel kind of worried for Yishun Town in this competition..

One example is the giraffe..
The metal structure for a giraffe is actually pretty simple..
Just an inverted "Y" shape..
Our giraffe is.. I don't know?
Seems like a horse?
I didn't see the completed trial run..
I hope it works.. =)

Mediacorp Channel 8 Records Challenge

Practice, practice, practice is all we need!
Well today's a rather simple task to assign different jobs to respective groups..
And of course we were building something huge too!
Everyone would have a rough idea of how a giant sculpture would look like!

Mediacorp Channel 8 Records Challenge

Today's the first filming session.
Horrible experience I would say.

No.1 - I got to speak in CHINESE!!! I can imagine all my Chinese teachers shaking their head when they watch that episode..

Interview in Chinese too! countless times of NG.. Lol!
The interviewer even taught me how to answer the questions?!
Haha!
I feel like JC Sum speaking Chinese.. =X
OMG

No.2 - This is bad.. The director MADE UP a 'conflict' between Mr. Lim, Joanne (Professional Balloonist) & me!

The storyline though might be so real on TV, it's actually all made up!
Joanne walked off upon seeing me talking to the students about balloons..
Joanne's a lovely lady.. Not even a little petty.
Her reputation would of course be affected..
As for me, I had to apologise to her and ask her to come back.. And admit that ballooning is only my hobby and I'm not as good as her.. And I'll listen to her and go under her guide?!
Can you imagine how it would affect my reputation saying these things on national TV too?!
Yes! I'm not as good but sigh..
The director's just terrible..

Well, it was still a valuable experience.. Now for the photos! =D

Taxi Freak!

Shucks..
Took a cab today..
Saw this creepy brownish-yellow cockroach craw up my pants, across my lower tummy!
As I attempted to sweep it away, it dived straight into my crotch region!
Went right under my balls!
Disappeared under my butt!
Either it was crushed under my humongous bottom, or it went under my shirt or in my pants or worse still, into my briefs?!!
Luckily it was the last 10 minutes of the ride..
Damn! I dashed out of the cab..
